Since I launched my holistic health coaching business, the biggest question that I’ve gotten is, “What is a health coach?” And “Why would I need one?” These are great questions. Well, here is my definition of a health coach and 5 reasons why you may want to hire one.
According to Wikipedia, health coaching is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable behavior change by challenging a client to listen to their inner wisdom, identify their values, and transform their goals into action. I would add to that in saying that a health coach serves as a guide to take you where you need to go. A health coach helps you identify your goals and helps you implement a strategy to meet those goals. A health coach helps you improve your self management and to stay motivated throughout the process.
What a health coach isn’t; A health coach does not define your goals for you or put you on a diet. A health coach is not a personal trainer. A health coach does not give medical advice and is not a medical doctor.
